Krugman wins the prize!

Paul Krugman, a brilliant columnist on NYTimes, wins "The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel".

PS: Thanks to Atanu, who long ago clarified that this is what the "Nobel Prize in economics" really means!

PPS: Only that his recent posts on his blog have been scary, very very scary about the financial crisi(e)s.

Also, doesn't this paragraph:

“He’s my best student,” said Jagdish Bhagwati, an economics professor at Columbia University who, despite opposition from fellow academics, helped Mr. Krugman publish one of the seminal papers for which he received his Nobel. “Lots of people are saying to me, ‘Why didn’t you get it?’ Given the fact that I didn’t get it, this is the next best thing.”[link]

make one remember one Subramanyan Chandrasekhar?

Postscript: Read Dowd's take on Krugman's prize.
